Vanessa Collier
If you haven’t been fortunate enough to meet Vanessa and witness one of her head-turning, fiery, and passionate performances, you should definitely make sure you do. As a master musician and multi-instrumentalist, Vanessa Collier, weaves funk, soul, rock, and blues into every powerful performance and she is downright impressive. With soulful vocals, searing saxophone, and witty songwriting, Vanessa is blazing a trail, racking up an impressive arsenal of honours, and has already singled herself out as an artist of distinction and one we would all do well to watch. It’s not simply the accolades she has accumulated so far, although they’ve been many -- three Blues Music Award Nominations (BMAs), a Blues Blast Award nomination, the Jammingest Pro Award bestowed by the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise, First Place for lyrics in the International Songwriting Competition, Best of 2014 Blues Breaker on Dan Aykroyd’s BluesMobile -- it’s the fact that she has accumulated all these honours even while her career is still in its infancy. A 2013 graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music, she’s toured nationally and internationally, released two critically acclaimed albums (2014’s Heart, Soul & Saxophone and 2017’s Meeting My Shadow), and recently released her highly anticipated third album, Honey Up, in July 2018.ary

Miss Freddye's Blues Band
A festival favorite, this will be the 5th year that Miss Freddye will perform on our stage.  To hear Freddye sing the blues is to be transported to another place and time.  It could be a smoky Chicago nightclub in the 1950s, or a campus in the '60s when blues found favor with college students, or a Southern juke joint in the 1970s, such is her feel for the music.  Miss Freddye Stover, known as "Pittsburgh's Lady of the Blues," was nominated in two categories for the prestigious Blues Music Awards in 2018, for Best Emerging Artist Album and for the Koko Taylor Award.

Max Schang Blues Band
Max Schang's blues have been with him 'all these years' - his first recorded blues album. A devout student of the guitar at the age 8, learning music notation as well as ear playing, beginning a testament to his ability with blues and other styles. The blues is spiritual, sensual and represents the place where the soul and body converge and document the journey. This path has taken him through many musical transformations including classical guitar, jazz, funk, gypsy-jazz as well as various styles of American blues.

The vision of this incredible artist is why our Festival has become so successful.

Ray Fuller and the
Bluesrockers
RAY FULLER  was given his first guitar at the age of 8, a Gibson Melody Maker. At an early age, Fuller was inspired by the British Invasion; Rolling Stones, Yardbirds and the Animals bands. Fuller's first Blues album he ever heard was John Mayall and the Blues Breakers featuring Eric Clapton. "I could tell good blues guitar when I heard it...it was different."
Fuller's passion for the Blues was fueled with the discovery of the original Blues greats; John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, BB King, Elmore James. Young Ray Fuller was especially fond of John Lee Hooker.

The Ray Fuller Band was formed in 1974, evolving into Ray Fuller and the Bluesrockers in 1978; releasing a self titled album on vinyl and Fuller has not looked back since. Mastering his craft throughout the 80's and 90's, Fuller was quick to become the "go to act" throughout Ohio to open for iconic Blues musicians such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Albert Collins to name a few.
